The budget of Maidaan gave sleepless nights to Boney Kapoor: paid for the set which remained vacant for three years, release has been postponed 8 times

The film ‘Maidan’ being made under the banner of Boney Kapoor has been postponed 8 times in the last three years. The shooting of this sports drama film starring Ajay Devgan was completed by the end of 2019 but due to some reason or the other it has not been released yet.

Now in an interview Boney talked about this mega budget film. He said that this film was postponed due to the pandemic and is now getting postponed. Even after so much delay, I did not receive the required amount from the insurance company.

The film ‘Maidan’ has been directed by ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame director Amit Ravindranath Sharma.

16 acres of land was taken on lease for 6 months
In an interview with The New Indian, the producer said, ‘Due to the pandemic and bad weather, there was a lot of delay in the shooting of this film. For its shooting, we made a ground with natural turf instead of artificial turf.

We had taken 16 acres of land on lease for 6 months, the rent of which I had to pay even if the shooting was not possible. Meanwhile, the set was also affected by the cyclone and we had to rebuild it. This set remained for three years and after the pandemic, we shot there. Because of this also the budget of the film kept increasing.

Used to maintain a crew of 500 to 600 people daily
During the shooting, we used to maintain a crew of 500 to 600 people on the ground daily. We had a tie-up with Taj for food catering. Two to three ambulances were also present on the set.

The situation is not under my control
Boney further said, ‘Apart from the field, I don’t owe anyone a single rupee. I never get disappointed but because of this movie I don’t sleep at night. For the first time in my life, I feel as if the situation is not under my control.

I can’t take any bold steps
Along with this, Boney said, ‘This is the era of joint ventures. I have partners associated with me on the film. If there is an actor then he will take his share in the revenue. Things are not as easy as they were before. I cannot take any bold step because the entire team is dependent on me.

There is still no confirmation regarding the new release date of the film.

Ajay Devgan and Priyamani starrer this film was last scheduled to release on June 23 this year. Still no announcement has been made regarding its new release date.
