A man who was wandering after registering a case of his son’s murder in Muzaffarnagar got justice after 7 years. The CJM declared the case of suicide by the police after the body of Sumit son of Rishipal, a resident of village Kasampur in Chhapar police station area, was found shot dead on 6 September 2017.

Sumit, son of Rishipal, a resident of Kasampur village of Chhapar police station area of โ€‹โ€‹Muzaffarnagar, was working in Kisan Seva Sahakari Samiti Nanheda Gurjar in Baliyakhedi block of Saharanpur district. He left his house on 4th September 2017 to go to the committee but went missing. After this, when he did not return home, his father Rishipal registered his missing person report in Chhapar police station on 5th September 2017. One day later, on 6th September, Sumit’s blood-soaked body was found lying in the field of Ramkumar of the village in the forest near the village.

He was shot behind his left ear and the bullet passed through his forehead. The police did not find any weapon at the scene of the incident. The police had registered a case against six accused, namely Sikander son of Bhopal, Ishwar son of Niranjan, Sanjay son of Kharak Singh, Jasvir Singh son of Sahab Singh, Vinod son of Katar Singh and Virendra son of Vishambar, on behalf of the deceased’s father Rishipal.

Despite the weapon not being recovered from the crime scene, the police dismissed the charge of murder in this case and filed a final (closure) report considering the incident as suicide. Whereas Sumit was right-handed and the bullet had hit him on the left side behind the ear.

The court rejected the closure report thrice
The victim’s father Rishipal had filed a protest petition in the CJM court through his advocate Gyan Kumar against the final report filed by the police in the case. On the court’s order, the police re-investigated the case and filed FR three times in the case.
