A case has come to light in which an advocate came with a revolver during the meeting and threatened the advocates who are members of the Elders Committee constituted by the High Court.

The court, along with taking a tough stand on this incident, has ordered the Police Commissioner, Lucknow to produce the advocate who allegedly threatened the accused in the court. The court has fixed July 12 as the date for hearing the case.

This order was passed by a single bench of Justice Rajiv Singh on the contempt petition of former Bar Minister Ramesh Prasad Tiwari and others. Through the petition, the matter of not holding the Lucknow Bar elections has been raised in the court.

After hearing the case on 24 May, the court had ordered the formation of an Elders Committee with the consent of all the parties and also ordered the completion of the elections by 22 July.

While filing the application in the court, the advocate of the petitioner told the court that the meeting of the Elders Committee was going on on June 13. During this meeting, advocate Arvind Kumar came with his companions carrying a revolver and said that he is the Chief Election Officer. The petitioner alleged and told the court that the said revolver belonged to the outgoing Joint Secretary Sumer Chandra Rawat.

The petitioner alleged that they threatened to kill all the people present in the meeting and said that whoever objects to Arvind Kumar being the election officer will also be implicated in an SC-ST case.

The petitioner also informed that an FIR has also been registered in the Kaiserbagh police station regarding this incident. On this, the court, along with passing the above order, has also summoned the SHO, Kaiserbagh to inform about the progress of investigation in the FIR.
