Saryu river is once again in a terrible form. The water level of the river is rising rapidly. At 12 noon, the water level of Saryu river has reached 92.700. According to Central Water Commission Ayodhya, the water level of the river is increasing by 1 cm per hour. By 4:00 pm, the water level of the river will cross the danger level.

Eight lakh cusecs of water was released into the body from the procession

Dr. Aman Chaudhary, in-charge of Central Water Commission, told Dainik Bhaskar, โ€œMore than 8 lakh cusecs of water has been released into the Saryu river from Banbasa Barrage and Girija Barrage located at Katarniaghat. Due to which the water level of the river is increasing rapidly.

There is a possibility of further rise in the water level of the river

Dr Aman Chaudhary said, “Rain is continuing in the mountains, the weather department has also predicted heavy rains in the next 24 to 48 hours, so the water level is expected to increase further. There is a possibility that in 1 to 2 days, water will be released into the river in small quantities from both the barrages. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall.

ND University’s Meteorologist Dr Amarnath Mishra said, “In the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of moderate cloud cover, light to moderate rainfall in eastern Uttar Pradesh and the wind is likely to blow easterly at normal speed.”

There is a danger of flood in about two dozen villages of Rudauli, Sohawal and Sadar tehsil area

Due to the rise in the water level of the Saryu river, the threat of flood has arisen over hundreds of acres of land and population of about two dozen villages in Rudauli, Sohawal and Sadar tehsil areas.

The villages on the banks of the Saryu river are flooded every year. Permanent measures to prevent floods have not been taken.

In view of the rising water level of the Saryu river in Sohawal, the tehsil administration has alerted the villagers living in the lower areas. Boats have been arranged for the people affected by the flood. A team including a lekhpal has been deployed by the tehsil administration for the most affected village Manjhakala. The water level is rising, but there is no danger of flood yet.
