Here the Human Resource Development Division of the Government of India has given its approval for the first State Institute of Hotel Management (HIHM) of UP. Along with this, Rs 16.50 crore has also been allocated for SIHM. Of this, Rs 10 crore has been allocated for building construction, Rs 2.50 crore for equipment purchase and Rs 4 crore for hostel construction.
The Deputy Director General of Human Resource Development Division has asked the Principal Secretary and General Manager, Tourism and Culture Department of the State Government to prepare and send the Detail Project Report (DPR) for the establishment of the institute at the earliest. Also, on behalf of the Human Resource Development Division, the state government has been asked to register this institute with the Indian Hotel Management (IHM) Society. A condition has also been laid that in case the expenditure exceeds the estimated cost, it will be borne by the State Government.
Foundation stone may be laid till Diwali
In fact, in July, five acres of land in Agaya village of Pipraich block was marked in the name of the institute. But the General Manager, Tourism Department, describing it as unusable, has asked the district administration to mark the land at another place. On this, DM Vijay Kiran Anand has directed CEO Gida to find land for the institute in Gida area itself. The tourism department will run this institute. In such a situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath can lay its foundation stone on the occasion of Dussehra or Diwali.

Students taking admission in this institute will get a chance to study hotel management at low cost. This will benefit not only Gorakhpur, but also the entire Purvanchal, districts adjoining Bihar and the students of Nepal.
Arrangements will be made for the education of more than 400 students
The institute will have arrangements for teaching more than 400 students. This institute will also have a contract with city hotels. Courses ranging from diploma to bachelor’s and master’s degree will be conducted in the field of hotel management in the institute. The appointment of teachers and all employees in the institute will be regular and all will be on government pay rolls. Commissioner Ravi Kumar NG said that Chief Minister Yogi has also got approval from the Government of India for the State Institute of Hotel Management in Gorakhpur. The Human Resource Development Division has also allocated Rs 16.40 crore. Land will be earmarked for the institute in Gida soon.
