NEDA also lodged a report at Gomtinagar police station but no departmental action was taken.

Taking advantage of the government’s electricity saving scheme, the officers and contractors of Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) together made a scam of about Rs 10 crore. When the matter was caught from KGMU, the department got an FIR done to show it to the government but departmental action was not taken. The KGMU administration is again raising questions about this.

In 2020, the government had directed all government departments to install low-power LEDs. This work was to be done by NEDA. The department took out its tender and Dhanshree Electronic got the work of supplying LEDs worth about 10 crores. In this, the maximum LED of about two crores was to be installed in King George Medical University. The contractor got some lights kept in the medical college but they were not installed. Despite this, the installation certificate was issued to the firm by the Medical College and NEDA. Based on this the firm got the payment.

Chief proctor caught the light coming out of theft

After the payment was made, the contractor was carrying the light kept by KGMU stolen by the truck. But a Chief Proctor caught up. When the investigation started on this, it was found that the game was being played in connivance with the engineer of KGMU, SP Singh. On the report of the proctor, SP Singh was suspended and a case was registered at Chowk Kotwali. On his report, NEDA also lodged a report at Gomtinagar police station but no departmental action was taken.

Lights worth more than 10 crores were to be installed in 11 buildings

Apart from KGMU, the contract for installing LEDs in the buildings of 11 departments was given to Dhanshree Electronic. This included Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Paryatan Bhawan, VVIP Guest House, VIP Guest House, UPSRTC, Jal Nigam, ITI Bhawan, Nirman Nirman’s building. Light was not installed in any building and with the connivance of the officers, the firm was issued the installation certificate and the payment was made to the firm. The special thing is that no action was taken against any responsible of NEDA in such a big scam.

Now questions arise on the suspension of the engineer

In the matter, now questions have been raised regarding the suspension of KGMU engineer SP Singh. According to the rule, no one can be kept under suspension for about two years. But the KGMU officials are not proceeding with the file of his dismissal saying that no investigation report of NEDA has been received yet. On the other hand, the officials of Neda, who are trying to save their staff, are sitting on the letter. NEDA secretary Anil Kumar says that the audit has not been done in the buildings where the lights were to be installed. So it is not yet decided how much scam has happened.
