The list of reservations has been released on Friday amidst preparations for the election of the district panchayat in the state. Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayati Raj of the state, gave details of reservation arrangements for District Panchayat President and Block Chiefs.

  • Apart from this, changes were made in 826 development blocks and 58194 gram panchayats.

The list of reservations has been released on Friday amid preparations for the election of the District Panchayat in Uttar Pradesh. While giving the details of reservation arrangements for the District Panchayat President and Block Chiefs, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayati Raj Manoj Kumar Singh said that in UP, 27 posts of District Panchayat have been reserved for unreserved, 12 women, 27 OBCs and 16 SCs.

The Principal Secretary informed that out of 826 posts of block chiefs, 314 have been reserved for unreserved, 113 women, 223 OBCs, 171 SCs. Apart from this, 20268 posts have been reserved for village heads, 9739 women seats, 15712 OBCs, 12045 SCs, 330 STs.

The category wise population figures for the Panchayat elections in the state have been released, in which the total Scheduled Tribe population in the state is – 959031, Scheduled Caste population – 34976562, Other Backward Classes – 81353060, General – 34740477.

After the reorganization the population of 6059510 moved from rural area to urban area. There are a total number of 58194 gram panchayats in the state for the posts of village head. 131 seats for Scheduled Tribes women, 199 for Scheduled Tribes, 4288 for Scheduled Castes, 77587 for Scheduled Castes, 5501 for Backward Classes, 10211 seats for Backward Classes were reserved.

Told that there will be 9739 and 20368 unreserved seats for unreserved women. For the village panchayat chiefs, 58194 in 19659 out of total seats for women in 19659, 33.78 per cent of the seats in the 2015 elections and 2021 elections are comparative positions.

Manoj Singh said that the number of posts in District Panchayat President – 2015 will be 75 and in 2021 the number of posts will be 75. The number of posts in the district panchayat member 2015 was 3120, in 2021, there will be 69 wards and 3051 posts will be elected. The number of posts in the area panchayat head was 821, in 2021, 5 development blocks will be increased, there will be election for 826 posts.

The number of posts in the area panchayat member 2015 was 77801, in 2021 there will be election for 77855 posts reduced by 1946 wards. The number of posts for Gram Panchayat head in 2015 was 55074, reduced to 880 Gram Panchayats in 2021, elections will be held for 58194 posts. The number of posts for Gram Panchayat members in 2015 was 744588, in 2021 12745 wards were reduced, elections for 731813 posts will be held.

In Panchayat elections District wise reserved seats of District Panchayat

  • Shamli, Baghpat, Lucknow, Kaushambi, Sitapur, Hardoi District Panchayat reserved for scheduled caste women for the post of president.
  • Kanpur Nagar, Auraiya, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Jhansi, Jalaun, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, Mirzapur reserved for Scheduled Castes for the post of District Panchayat President.
  • Sambhal, Hapur, Etah, Bareilly, Kushinagar, Varanasi, Badaun District Panchayat reserved for other backward class women for the post of president.
  • Azamgarh, Ballia, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Banda, Lalitpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Pilibhit, Basti, Santakbirnagar, Chandauli, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar were reserved for other backward classes for the post of District Panchayat President.
  • Kasganj, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Mau, Pratapgarh, Kannauj, Hamirpur, Bahraich, Amethi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra District Panchayat was reserved for women for the post of president.
  • Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, Mathura, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kanpur Dehat, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Maharajganj, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Shahjahanpur, Siddharthanagar, Moradabad, Bijnor, Rampur, Amroha, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Gaudabad , Unnao, Bhadohi will remain unreserved for the post of District Panchayat President.
