DM Sanjay Kumar Singh giving medicine to the child regarding pulse polio campaign
In Farrukhabad, DM Sanjay Kumar Singh inaugurated the Pulse Polio campaign by giving medicines to the children. He told that from September 19 to 23, the Health Department team would go door-to-door to give polio medicine. The District Magistrate said that letters have been sent to all the Deputy District Magistrates, Basic Education Department, ICDS, District Supply Officers, officers related to municipal bodies and District Panchayati Raj Officers on behalf of the District Magistrate’s office to make the campaign successful.
Chief Medical Officer Avanindra Kumar said that polio vaccine is also included in the routine vaccination program. Pulse polio drops are given at the time of birth. Apart from this, this drop is also given at six, ten and fourteen weeks. Its booster dose is also given at the age of sixteen to twenty four months. According to a report published on 23 October 2018 on the National Health Portal of the Government of India, one in two hundred polio infections result in irreversible paralysis (usually in the legs). Five to ten percent of such paralysis sufferers die. In such a situation, complete immunity against this complex disease is very important.
