Court in Jaunpur sentenced life imprisonment to brother guilty of killing sister by strangulation
District Judge Vani Ranjan Aggarwal’s court on Saturday sentenced the accused brother to life imprisonment after finding him guilty in the case of strangulation and destruction of evidence eight years ago in Jaunpur. After killing the sister, the accused tried to burn the dead body by sprinkling kerosene after locking her in the room. To mislead the police, the convict himself went to the police station and lodged an FIR. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict.
The convict had killed his sister eight years ago.
Actually, on the evening of October 6, 2014, the half-dead body of Archana Archana Singh (18) was found in the room of the house in Fatehgarh village of Khuthan police station area. The deceased’s brother Pradeep Singh had lodged an FIR in the police station. According to the plaintiff, his unmarried sister committed suicide by closing the door of the room and setting it on fire. When he reached home, he broke open the door and saw that his sister was lying dead after being burnt.
Brother turned out to be the killer in police investigation
However, when the police started investigating after the brother filed a report of the sister’s suicide, a shocking revelation came to light. In fact, the brother who lodged the case had killed his sister by strangulating her with the cane of a spade. To hide the evidence, the accused burnt the dead body by pouring kerosene inside the room. The police had recovered the cane of the shovel used in the murder from inside the room at the instance of the accused Pradeep.
Court sentenced to life imprisonment
Case diary related to the incident was filed by the police in the court. The statements of the witnesses were recorded in the court by government advocate Anil Singh Kaptan. The court found Pradeep guilty on the basis of evidence and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the guilty.
