The DM has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the encounter with a wanted criminal that took place on August 7 in the Thana Farah area of โโMathura. The DM has appointed SDM Sadar as the investigating officer in this case. On August 7, the Lucknow unit of STF killed Pankaj Yadav, a wanted criminal with a reward of Rs 1 lakh, in an encounter.

On 7 August, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Shahi posted in STF Lucknow Unit and his team killed Pankaj Yadav, a notorious criminal of eastern Uttar Pradesh who had become synonymous with terror in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the last 16 years, in an encounter. A reward of Rs 1 lakh was declared on Pankaj Yadav. Pankaj used to commit contract killings on contract from mafia gangs.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Shahi and his team posted at STF Lucknow unit received information that Pankaj Yadav, a criminal with a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, would go towards Agra via the National Highway in Mathura. On August 7, based on the information, the STF team was stationed at the toll plaza in the Farah police station area of โโMathura. Where after the informer identified Pankaj, the team had an encounter with him. In which Pankaj was killed.

SDM Sadar To Gave Test
DM Shailendra Kumar Singh ordered a magisterial inquiry into the encounter with Pankaj Yadav. The DM considered it necessary to conduct a magisterial inquiry in this case in compliance with the guidelines issued in the Supreme Court in Criminal Appeal No. 1255/1999 People’s Union for Civil Liberties and others vs. State of Maharashtra. In the Pankaj Yadav encounter case, the DM nominated SDM Sadar as the investigating officer.

DM Shailendra Kumar Singh said that if any person or organization wants to give any evidence or statement in written or oral form in the Pankaj Yadav encounter case, then he can register it by reaching the office of SDM Sadar on 1 October 2024 at 11 am. In the case of Pankaj Yadav’s encounter, the police had registered a case under sections 109, 351 (3), 352 and 3/25 Arms Act in Farah police station. The crime branch is investigating it.
