India beat Pakistan by six runs on Sunday at Nassau County in New York.

The high-profile T20 World Cup fixture between India and Pakistan turned out to be a nail-biting one with the Rohit Sharma-led side eventually emerging victorious. The game, which was played at Nassau County in New York on Sunday, was a low-scoring affair but it still managed to enthral innumerable fans. Amidst the craze and hype surrounding the T20 World Cup fixture, a strange style of reportage of the game has taken the Internet by storm.

A now-viral post, shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed the New York Times reporting the scorecard of the game in a rather bizarre style.

“Security was tight, but the mood was jubilant in the temporary stadium in Nassau County, where India won 119-113 in a highly anticipated showdown,” were the lines from the report, as seen in the now-viral post.

The article was presumably updated later and the current version of the piece, available online, read, “Security was tight, but the mood was jubilant in the temporary stadium in Nassau County, where India won a highly anticipated nail-biter.”

Reacting to the now-viral social media post, a user hilariously stated, “I mean they got it half right.”

Another person remarked, “They thought it was an NBA style scoring system as The Finals are underway at Boston.”

A person poked fun at the American measurement system stating, “Weird. They didn’t mention the measurement of the stadium in terms of washing machines.”

“When NFL fans watch cricket for the first time and now have to make a report,” read a comment.

“This is a good headline. India and Pakistan matches happen a lot. But 34k people attending a cricket game in the U.S. is a huge deal, unprecedented,” replied another person.

Another user cheekily replied, “A simple chat to ChatGPT would have given better content.”

Coming back to the T20 World Cup fixture, India continued their winning run in the tournament. They defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by six runs. Batting first, India posted a paltry total of 119. Pakistan, in reply, could manage to reach 113. Ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets in the game.
