Countries like Korea, Thailand, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong, including Indonesia, who had won the title 13 times in men’s singles, had already withdrawn their names.
Saina Nehwal has expressed concern
In view of this, many giants including Indian star shuttler Saina Nehwal had expressed concern. Saina Nehwal had said that when seven big countries have withdrawn their names, it would not make sense to hold the tournament.
Denmark Masters canceled
At the same time, BWF has also postponed the Denmark Super 750 tournament to be held from October 13 to 18. Also canceled the Denmark Masters badminton tournament. The tournament was to be held from 20 to 25 October.
India was declared team for Thomas Cup
The Indian team was announced for the Thomas & Uber Cup. World champion PV Sindhu and former number-1 player Kidambi Srikanth were to lead India’s 20-man squad. The team also included Saina Nehwal and Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy.
