The Municipal Commissioner is continuously holding meetings with the officials and preparing policies to provide relief to the common people.

City residents living in the Municipal Corporation area in Aligarh can deposit their outstanding house tax and property tax on Monday. If they deposit the tax by 30th September, they will be provided exemption from the Municipal Corporation. People are being given 15% discount on online tax deposit.

Mayor Prashant Singhal said that in the last financial year, people had deposited a record tax through the online system. In view of the enthusiasm of the people, the last date for depositing tax and the exemption limit was extended. Monday is the last day to deposit tax and get exemption. Even if people pay tax offline or through cheque, they will get a relief of 12%.

Rs 13.86 crore came from online payment

The record of digital payment was broken in Aligarh Municipal Corporation this year and for the first time the corporation has collected a revenue of Rs 13.86 crore through online payment. In view of the tax exemption, the city residents had made online payment and availed the benefit of the scheme.

Only after this the Municipal Corporation had further extended the last date of tax relief. Along with this, the Municipal Corporation team was continuously making people aware about digital payments. So that people can deposit taxes online and paper less working can be taken further.

Revenue had increased manifold since last year

In the last financial year 2023-24, the Municipal Corporation had collected Rs 1.07 crore through digital medium till July 2023. Whereas Rs 72 lakh was recovered through offline means in the last financial year. In this financial year till July 2024, a record property tax of Rs 13.86 crore has been collected online. Revenue of Rs 5.94 crore has been received through offline medium.

Chief Assessing Officer Ashok Kumar Singh said that earlier the last date was 31st July, which has been extended to 31st August 2024. Now the Municipal Commissioner has extended it till September 30. People can avail the benefits of the scheme till September 30. A discount of 12 percent is being given on depositing check or cash.
