My name is Devansh Raghuvanshi. My father Devi Singh is a Raghuvanshi farmer. My childhood was spent in Seoni Malwa village and I received my education from there. In such a situation, going to the city and studying medicine was a big challenge for me. In the year 2023, I prepared for NEET UG after completing 12th and was successful in the first attempt. My NEET score was – 609.

Presently I am studying first year of MBBS from Neta Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur. NEET UG exam is going to be held on 5th May. More than 23 lakh students are going to participate in this.

Mother did not get the freedom to become a doctor:

The story of my becoming a doctor is related to my mother. My mother's name is Manisha Raghuvanshi. He is a teacher in Anganwadi. My mother was very intelligent in studies since childhood, but my maternal grandfather was always worried that if the girl got more education then it would be difficult to find such an educated boy in the village. Who will marry her? My mother wanted to become a doctor, but Nana ji only allowed her to study nursing.

After this study, she became a teacher in Anganwadi, but even before marriage, she had decided that she would make her children doctors. She used to tell me and my elder brother in childhood that you have to become a doctor when you grow up.

But my brother was interested in doing B.Tech and he did the same. It was then that I decided that I would fulfill my mother's unfulfilled dream by becoming a doctor.

Science teacher motivated:

My decision to become a doctor got strengthened when a new science teacher came to our school when I was in 8th class. He told me about NEET exam and motivated me to take the exam.

However, the study environment in our village Seoni Malwa was very poor. A newly opened Kendriya Vidyalaya was there where very little education was conducted. In such a situation, self study had to be done.

It was difficult to adapt to the environment of the new city:

After studying in Seoni Malwa, I came to Bhopal on the insistence of my mother. Mother wanted me to leave the village and go to Bhopal so that I could get a complete environment for studies. In such a situation, I came to Bhopal and joined Aakash Institute.

Here too there was no less trouble for me. Firstly, it is a new city, on top of that, the food in the hostel where I stayed was not good. I started falling ill again and again. I also had a backlog in 11th.

There was hesitation among the children of the city:

This is a matter of studies, but along with this, the problem I felt was to make my mark among those coaching kids who were the toppers of coaching since class 9th or 10th. Coming from a middle class family, it was difficult for me to adjust with high standard students.

Initially, I used to be so hesitant that many times when the teacher asked questions in coaching, even after getting the answer, I used to hesitate in raising my hand and could not speak. But I was determined that no matter what happens, I have to do something.

Deteriorating health affected studies:

In December 2022, I was busy with my studies, but the problem arose when I got dehydrated due to bad food. Due to repeated ill health, I went home. Studies were at peak in January.

I didn't even feel like going home because I knew that after going from here to Bhopal, it would be difficult to cover the studies I was missing. Meanwhile, there was no improvement in my health. Soon it was discovered that I had typhoid.

Mother sent again to Bhopal:

My physical condition was not only bad, but it affected my mental condition even more. I gave up on studies because in this condition, it was difficult for me to even get up and down, let alone study.

I lost courage, but my mother had vowed to make me win. When my health got better in February, he once again asked me to go to Bhopal.

Started studying once again:

I came to Bhopal again in February 2023. But it was not easy for me to study again because I had missed a lot of studies in coaching.

At this time, Randhir Sir, teacher of Aakash Institute, helped me a lot. I passed 12th with 93%. After that got selected for NEET.

Dream of helping village children in education:

I want to do surgery in pediatrics after doing MBBS. After my studies, I want to help the children of Seoni Malwa in their studies who, despite being qualified, are left behind due to less knowledge about the environment and information about studies.

It is important to make proper notes for NEET preparation:

To prepare for NEET, you should prepare the Biology syllabus very well. You read from NCERT books. Genetics is one of the special topics in this. Make proper notes of it. Your focus on Physics and Chemistry should also be proper like Biology.
