Troubled by pain, Irrfan used to sing lullabies for himself: He used to send recordings to Vishal Bhardwaj, used to say – along with acting, you will have to listen to my songs also.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj had worked with late actor Irrfan Khan in a total of 4 films. Both of them worked together for the first time on the film 'Maqbool' released in 2003. This was only the second film of Vishal's career as a director.

Now remembering his friend in an interview, Vishal told that Irfan used to send him voice recordings during his last days. Vishal has preserved these voice recordings till today.

Irfan was in a lot of pain in his last days- Vishal
In an interview given to Mid-Day, Vishal said, 'I have some of his recordings. He was in great pain in his last days. He was in so much pain that he could not sleep properly. He used to sing lullabies to himself and then send the recording to me. He used to say – Vishal Saheb, now you will have to listen to my singing along with my acting..'

The picture is taken during the shooting of the film Haider. Irfan did an extended cameo in Vishal's film.

'I miss Irrfan in every film'
Earlier in an interview given to Pinkvilla, Vishal had said that he misses Irrfan in every film of his. According to Vishal, whenever he makes any film or watches good cinema, he remembers Irrfan Khan. According to Vishal, Irfan's departure is the biggest loss for the industry, while it is a big personal loss for him.

Were also going to work together in 'Ishqiya'
Apart from Maqbool, Irrfan and Vishal had worked together in 7 Khoon Maaf, Haider and Talwar. Irrfan and Vishal were also going to work on 'Ishqiya'. However, later Irrfan signed some other film and he could not give dates to Ishqiya.

The film Talwar was produced by Vishal. It was directed by Meghna Gulzar. Vishal himself had shared this photo of him having fun and joking with Irrfan on the set.

Irfan died in 2020
After this incident, Vishal became angry with Irfan and did not talk to Irfan for 2 years. Both remained close friends of each other for years and then Irfan passed away in the year 2020.

Vishal has written a script for Irfan
After Irrfan's death, Vishal had written a script to pay tribute to Irrfan. Its name is 'Irrfan and I'. In this, Vishal has shared many stories related to Irrfan.
