Police of Azamgarh district arrested the prize accused who stole batteries from mobile towers.
The police of Azamgarh district have arrested Satish Singh alias Chhotu, a battery thief carrying a reward of Rs 25,000. Earlier, two prize accused who were absconding were arrested by the district police in an encounter a day earlier. Four days back, the district police had busted the gang by arresting 15 accused of stealing batteries and equipment from mobile towers. Three accused including the mastermind had fled from the spot. District SP Anurag Arya had also announced a reward of 25 thousand on all the absconding accused. The police engaged in search of the accused, today got success in arresting the accused.
13 cases are registered against the accused
The arrested accused Satish Singh alias Chhotu who is a resident of Jahanaganj police station area. There are 13 serious criminal cases registered against the accused. The leaders of this gang, Santosh Singh and Mithilesh Singh, were arrested in an encounter by the district police a day earlier. A pistol and cartridges have also been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. The accused is being sent to the court from where he will be sent to jail. This whole gang used to steal the batteries and equipment of mobile towers and sell them at scrap. The police have also seized three vehicles used in the incident.
