An Uber driver, who launched an app, has been seeking support from his passengers to help him reach 1,000 users so that he can pitch it to his investors.
An individual living in San Francisco, California, booked a ride via a ride-hailing app, unaware that their routine trip would turn into an unexpected encounter with a startup founder. After entering the car, the passenger was greeted with a poster stuck on one of the seats of the car. It detailed that the driver has launched a mobile app and needs 1,000 downloads so that he can pitch it to the investors. Intrigued, the passenger initiated a conversation with the driver, Frederico Coutrim, who is building an app to translate messages in real time.

Reshan Khanna, who is a friend of the passenger, shared a picture of the poster on X (formerly known as Twitter) to help Coutrim reach his milestone. She wrote, “Chatting with our Uber driver who is building a startup and looking for feedback. If anyone works in adjacent fields please hit him up.”
The poster reads, “Please, help me build my startup. It is called TransChatMe- the revolutionary free mobile app that translates your messages automatically! No more copying and pasting – just write your message, and TransChatMe handles the rest. I need 1,000 users, so I can share it with investors.”
In the end, Uber driver Frederico Coutrim also shared two QR codes for the app – one for Android users and the other for iOS users.

Khanna, in an update, shared that although her friend booked the ride with Uber, she received an email from the driver. “Woke up to a very sweet email actually, my friend booked the Uber but he somehow found me on email/Linkedin.” Alongside, she shared a screenshot of the email she received.

Coutrim also expressed gratitude towards Coutrim for “shining a light in the darkness”. “Thanks to your post on X about TransChatMe. I really appreciate you. You have shined a light for us in a dark time, your help has given us strength to keep moving forward. It means a lot to me and it is priceless.
