In the 18th match of the T20 World Cup 2024, West Indies defeated Uganda by 134 runs in a one-sided match. The Ugandan batsmen could not stand in front of the brilliant bowling of bowler Akeel Hosein and were all out for the joint-lowest team total of 39 runs.

2. Obuya took a leap and dismissed Captain Powell
Uganda captain Brian Masaba bowled a short ball in the third ball of the 16th over. West Indies captain Powell played a shot on extra cover. Ugandan bowler Kuweta bowled a yorker to Sharfan Rutherford in the third ball of the 18th over. Rutherford could not read the accurate yorker and delayed playing the shot. The ball went under the bat and hit the stumps. Rutherford was out on 22.

1. Uganda made the lowest total of T20 World Cup
Uganda has jointly made the lowest total in the history of the T20 World Cup. The team was all out for just 39 runs against the West Indies. Earlier in 2014, the Netherlands team had scored 39 runs against Sri Lanka. At the same time, in 2021, the Netherlands was all out for 44 against Sri Lanka.

2. Akil became the first Windies player to take 5 wickets in T20 World Cup
In the T20 World Cup, West Indies’ Akeel Hosein took 5 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs against Uganda. He became the first Caribbean player to take 5 wickets in a World Cup.
