The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given instructions for starting academic year 2020-21 in all universities and colleges. The UGC has asked universities to start classes for the new session from 1 November. In addition, the university has also been directed to complete the admission process by 30 November. Earlier, according to the alternate academic calendar of UGC released on April 29, first year students’ classes were to start from September 1, while final year examinations were to be held from July 1 to July 15. However, later this calendar had to be revised due to Corona.

Final year exams will be held till 30 September

According to the revised calendar, final year examinations are to be held by the end of September. Also, first year classes will start from November 1. However, if there is a delay in the entrance exam for the first year, there may be a delay in starting classes for the new session. The UGC has further stated in the revised calendar that students will be refunded the entire fees if they cancel their admission by 30 November.

Admission will have to be completed by 30 November

The Commission has also issued instructions regarding the admission process in its new calendar. Accordingly, the merit or entrance examination based admission process for UG and PG students should be completed by the end of October and the remaining vacant seats should be filled by November 30. Actually, this time due to Corona virus infection the start of new session is being delayed.
