American Airlines flight makes emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport due to possible mechanical issue. No injuries reported

A US flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday night over a “possible mechanical issue.”

The American Airlines flight, which was arriving from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, safely landed at LAX on Runway 25 at around 8:45 pm, the New York Post reported, citing a local television station.

The US outlet said that passengers safely exited the Boeing aircraft through the jet bridge after the aircraft pulled into the gate. There were no reports of injuries on board, it added. According to the outlet, there was a blown-out tire, but AA officials only cited the pilot’s claim of a “possible mechanical issue.”

The scare is the latest in an abundance of mechanical and safety issues Boeing aircraft have faced in the last two weeks. This is reportedly the second aircraft to make an emergency landing at the Los Angeles airport in March.

Boeing has been under heavy regulatory scrutiny following a harrowing Jan. 5 Alaska Airlines, mid-air panel blowout that led to probes into the company’s safety and quality standards in its production process. The US Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the midair emergency.

On Saturday, John Barnett, a former Boeing quality inspector of three decades, was found dead from a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound in his truck in the parking lot of his South Carolina hotel. The engineer, who retired in 2017 and later became a whistleblower, had provided his first testimony in a bombshell lawsuit against the company.
