Car collides with President Biden’s security SUV in Wilmington. US President and first lady are safe after the incident
A car collided with a motorcade that was part of US President Joe Biden’s security detail in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday.
Biden and first lady Jill Biden are safe, the witness said, according to Reuters. Biden and his wife had just left his campaign headquarters after having a meal of pasta with tomato sauce with members of his re-election team.
This incident occurred as Biden walked from the campaign office to his waiting armoured SUV. A sedan hit a US Secret Service vehicle that was being used to close off intersections near the headquarters for the president’s departure.
US media reports said the sedan then tried to continue into a closed-off intersection before US security personnel surrounded the vehicle with weapons drawn and instructed the driver to put his hands up.
The US president was ushered into his waiting vehicle, where his wife was already seated, before being driven swiftly back to their home.
