Counting has started on Lakhimpur Kheri seat. BJP candidate and Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni is trailing. SP’s Utkarsh Verma has taken the lead. 14 rounds of counting have been completed here. Counting is taking place in the premises of Krishi Utpadan Mandi in Rajapur.

The 4-member team for counting EVM votes includes 1 micro observer, counting supervisor, counting assistant and fourth class personnel. DM informed that 14 counting tables have been kept for each assembly constituency, 2 for ARO table and 3 teams each in reserve. Thus, a total of 608 counting personnel have been deployed for 8 assembly constituencies. While the counting of postal ballots will be done on 8 tables of Kheri parliamentary constituency.

In order to protect the workers from the heat, big lights have been put up at the counting pandal. They have also been instructed to keep a towel on their head, not to consume fast food, consume electrolyte powder and water. Coolers and cold water have also been arranged at the media centre.

Fellow District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh has requested fellow journalists to please use cotton clothes during the protest and avoid consuming packaged food items as this may worsen their health.

A look at the 2019 elections

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ajay Kumar Mishra got 584285 votes, while alliance candidate Poorvi Verma got 3 lakh 367516 votes. In third place, Congress leader Zafar Ali Naqvi got 88588 votes.

Security of counting place in three layers
The three-layer security at the counting venue has been divided into inner cadre, middle cadre and outer cadre. Paramilitary forces will be in the inner cadre. PAC jawans will be deployed in the middle cadre and civil police will be deployed in the outer cadre. Security personnel will always be alert.

Vehicles will be parked 200 meters away
The entire counting venue including the strong room has been equipped with CCTV. Vehicles of people coming to the counting venue will be parked 200 metres away. Police officers and the District Election Officer will inspect the preparations from time to time.

These things cannot be taken to the counting venue
Those entering the counting centre will be thoroughly checked. Carrying mobile phones inside will be prohibited. If someone brings a mobile phone, it will have to be kept outside the counting centre. Similarly, carrying weapons and inflammable substances will also be prohibited.

Only candidates and election agents will be allowed entry
Very strict security arrangements have been made at the counting venue. Only the candidates and their election agents will be allowed to enter the inner circle of the counting venue. Apart from the counting staff, only the officials on counting duty will be allowed to enter here. Apart from this, no one else will be allowed to enter the inner circle.

Action will be taken on taking out victory procession
There will be a ban on the victory procession of the winning candidate and his supporters. Crowds will not be allowed to gather around the counting venue. The police have made special arrangements for this. The entire area will be converted into a cantonment by the police from 5 am on the day of counting.
