Vicky Kaushal might be bulking up for his upcoming film Chhava in which he will be essaying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Vicky Kaushal is all set to resume shooting for his upcoming movie, Chhava, which is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empireโs founder and the great warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As reported by E-Times, Vicky will resume shooting from March 9 in Wai, Maharashtra. The same portal has now reported that Vicky Kaushal will be bulking up with 25 kilos of muscle for his role.
Vicky Kaushal might have suffered an injury but the actor is determined to embrace the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with honesty and a lot of hard work. As per a source close to the ETimes, Vicky Kaushal has been told by the maker of the film to gain muscles. As opposed to his current weight of 75 kilos, Vicky Kaushal will be adding 25 kilos of muscles to his body to reach over the total body weight of 100 kilos. The source further suggested the reason behind the same by citing the historical references of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj battling a tiger and slaying it. For a person to do that, they should have a strong framework of muscles. Vicky Kaushal has been taking the help of celebrity fitness coach Kris Gethin, who has previously worked with Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham as well as Tejas Lalwani who assisted Dhanush, Sunny Kaushal among others. The actor is expected to reach his goal weight by September.
The shooting of the film was halted after the actor suffered an injury while working on an action sequence. But the actor is ready to get back on the set on March 9, โVicky will start shooting for โChhavaโ from March 9th. He has recovered and is back to his strength and zeal. The team is currently shooting in Wai and Bhor and has started the shoot,โ a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed.
Chhava is directed by filmmaker Laxman Utekar, known for movies like Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi (2021), Luka Chuppi (2019) and more. The director of the film has also confirmed that Vicky will resume shooting on March 9.
Chhava is not the first collaboration between Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar. The two previously worked together on the comedy romance Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023). It also featured Sara Ali Khan, Sushmita Mukherjee, Akash Khurana, and Atul Tiwary in significant roles.
Chhava is reported to be a period drama, where Kaushal will share the screen with Rashmika Mandanna. The film is expected to delve into Sambhaji Maharajโs bravery, sacrifice, and wartime strategies while incorporating an emotional love story between him and his wife.
Besides Vicky, the film will also star Rashmika Mandanna in the lead. She will be playing the role of Yesu Bai in the movie and has already wrapped up shooting her part in the film. Among others, Chhava will also feature Ashutosh Rana, Akshaye Khanna, Divya Dutta, Kiran Karmarkar and Neelkanti Patekar among others in key roles.
