BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to X on Wednesday (July 3) to post a tweet in which he invited Indian fans to join the celebration in Mumbai. “Join us for the Victory Parade honouring Team India’s World Cup win! Head to Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on July 4th from 5:00 pm onwards to celebrate with us! Save the date! #TeamIndia #Champions @BCCI @IPL,” Shah’s tweet read.

Indian captain Rohit Shamra, who is a local Mumbaikar, also invited fans to be part of the historic moment via a post on X that read, “we want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home.”

The victory celebration on Thursday will refresh the memories of 2007, when, after winning the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, the MS Dhoni-led side also took part in a victory parade in Mumbai.

Ceremony at Wankhede Stadium

The victory parade is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. IST and conclude at 7:00 p.m., following which BCCI will organise a prize distribution ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. BCCI secretary Jay Shah will hand over the prize money of Rs 125 crore to the Rohit Sharma-led side for ending India’s 17-year wait for a second T20 World Cup title.
