Due to heavy rains in Lalitpur on Wednesday, the water level of Rajghat, Govind Sagar, Bhavani dam increased. Due to which water is being released by opening the gates of three dams including Govind Sagar. At the same time, Shahzad river is in spate due to the gates of Govind Sagar dam being opened for 24 hours.

Due to which water has entered the houses of people living on the river bank. Due to which household items have got wet. Currently, the rain has stopped on Thursday. But due to the rising water level in the dam, 2904 cusecs of water is being drained by opening 12 gates 2-2 feet till Thursday afternoon.

On the other hand, due to water flowing over the bridge near Prajapati Dharamshala in Nadipura, water has entered many houses, children are risking their lives by bathing in the water. Due to the rise in the Shahzad river, the bridge near the Panchmukhi temple on the road from Panari to Surai Ghat has submerged in water. There is waterlogging in many rural areas.

District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi visited various areas and enquired about the condition of the people. He also directed the officials to carry out rescue operations for the flood victims. The DM inspected the Govindsagar Dam and took stock of the situation. In view of the rising water level, he directed for adequate drainage. He also instructed the police to keep tourists at a sufficient distance from the dams and reservoirs. Also, never allow them to stand at the gates of the dams. Appropriate arrangements should be made for this.

Nodal nominated to provide help to the affected people
The DM has nominated the Additional District Magistrate and Executive Officer, all the Sub-District Magistrates, all the concerned Block Development Officers including the Municipal Area as nodal officers to collect information about the problems of waterlogging, water drainage, damage to houses etc. in the area and to get them resolved and to provide help to the affected people.

The district administration has issued disaster helpline numbers 05176-272335, 05176-272613 for flood victims. The district residents have been appealed to give information about any kind of damage in any area on the above numbers. Help will be provided immediately on receiving the information.

The DM has appealed to the general public not to panic due to the problems caused by rain. The district administration is working diligently to help. Which will be resolved immediately by the deployed teams.
