When Delhi-based IAS Officer Ayush Goel Left His Rs 28 Lakh Per Annum Job For UPSC – News18


Ayush Goel had a dream to work as an IAS.

After seven months of working in a big company, he resigned and decided to devote all of his attention to the UPSC test.

Most candidates, after graduation, want to secure a well-paying job. Delhiโ€™s Ayush Goel had different ideologies. He quit his job with a salary package of Rs 28 lakh. Wondering why? To crack the UPSC Civil Services Exam and land a government job. As we all know, UPSC is one of the most difficult tests in the nation; thus, leaving a job to succeed in the UPSC test is quite a risk. Ayush Goel had a dream to work for the IAS. He completed his schooling at Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, which is a government institution located in Delhi. After his graduation, he embarked on his professional journey and started preparing for the CAT test. He, then, enrolled himself in IIM Kozhikode, Kerala (IIM Kozhikode). Later, Ayush joined JP Morgan, after getting his MBA degree. He took home a whopping Rs 28 lakh annually while working with the company.

Ayushโ€™s father Subhash Chandra Goel owns a grocery store. He took a loan of Rs 20 lakh for Ayushโ€™s education. When he got the job, his parents were relieved. However, Ayush had different plans. After seven months of working in the company, he resigned and decided to devote all of his attention to the UPSC test. His efforts came to fruition. He secured AIR 171. It is worth mentioning that he cleared the exam under the EWS quota.

Ayush was always good at studies. He received 91.2% in his class 10 board test; and in class 12, he managed to get 96.2%. Since he left a job with exceptionally lucrative compensation, he had a lot of pressure to study. He worked hard and spent one and a half years at home preparing for the government test. He did not go to any tuition and rather, relied on books and internet videos, and studied for 8 to 10 hours each day. He cleared the exam on his first attempt. Well, the hard work paid off and he managed to reach his goals.
