Poland’s Iga Swiatek won her fourth Grand Slam

Iga Swiatek of Poland has won the women’s singles title of French Open 2024. Iga defeated Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the final match.

World number one Iga Swiatek defeated Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets in the final match played at Roland Garros’ Philippe Chatrier court on Saturday.

12th seed Jasmine Paolini reached her first Grand Slam final.

Iga won her fourth Grand Slam title

This is Iga Swiatek’s fourth French Open and fifth Grand Slam title overall.

Poland’s Iga also won the French Open in the years 2020, 2022 and 2023. While in the year 2022, Iga also won the USA Open.

In last year’s French Open final, Iga defeated Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

In the semi-finals, Jasmine Paolini defeated Russia’s 16-year-old Mira Andreeva in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to enter the finals. Champion Iga defeated USA’s star tennis player Coco Gauff 6-2, 6-4. After which both of them faced each other in the final today.

23-year-old Iga played her first Grand Slam match in 2019. After this, in 2020 itself, she won her first French Open.

Iga could not win a single Grand Slam title in the 2021 season. But she made a strong comeback in 2022.

The men’s singles final will be held on Sunday

The French Open 2024 Men’s Singles final will be between Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Alexander Zverev of Germany.

Alcaraz defeated Italy’s Yannick Sinner 2-6, 6-3, 3-6,6-4, 6-3 in the semifinal match. Alexander Zverev entered the final by defeating Norway’s Casper Ruud 2-6, 6-2, 6-4,6-2.
