Punk will be the special guest referee in a title decider between Ethan Page and Trick Williams in Chicago.

Former WWE Champion CM Punk has been officially announced as the special guest referee for an upcoming championship bout in the NXT. The Second City Saint is currently a part of one of the leading storylines in the WWE. The fans are thoroughly enjoying his ongoing feud with co-wrestler and ex-World Heavyweight Champion Drew McIntyre. But in two weeks, Punk is set to take a break from that rivalry and act as an official in a NXT Championship match. Punk will be the special guest referee in a title decider between Ethan Page and Trick Williams in Chicago.

The massive update was revealed during the weekly episode of NXT on September 17. Taking a break from the ongoing feud, CM Punk made his way to Florida on Tuesday. During the closing moments of the show, NBA star Tyrese Haliburton appeared in the NXT Championship contract signing between Ethan Page and Trick Williams. The basketball star claimed that he was present to ensure that Page and Williams put pen to paper for their October 1 bout. The ex-champion Williams signed the contract before Page walked out to the ring. Calling himself the Boston Celtics of NXT Champions, Page told Williams that he will be like the Indiana Pacers and the rest of the NBA when he retains his title next month. He then proceeded to sign the contract.

The segment got interesting when Haliburton added that he had forgotten to mention one thing. Just then CM Punkโ€™s music hit as the Cult of Personality walked out. The NBA star then said that Punk was going to be the special guest referee in Ethan Page and Trick Williamsโ€™ NXT Championship match next month. Eventually, a brawl broke inside the ring, resulting in security running down to separate Williams and Page. The two superstars continued yelling at each other as the show went off the air.

As for CM Punk, the former WWE Champion will have his eyes set on ending the ongoing feud with McIntyre once he is done officiating the upcoming NXT title match. Punk and McIntyre first faced each other at the SummerSlam 2024 where Seth Rollins acted as the guest referee. With Punk losing that fight, a second match was held at Bash in Berlin earlier this month. Punk won the strap match and is now set to take on the Scotsman for a third time at WWE Bad Blood next month.
