A cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took place on Thursday evening in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. During this time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi and industrial capital Kanpur has been given the green signal to implement the commissionerate system. In fact, Uttar Pradesh was sent to the government by proposing this system for greater control over crime and criminals in big cities. Now the number of Commissionerates has increased to 4 in the state.
In the year 2020, on 13 January, the Police Commissionerate system was implemented in the capital Lucknow and the economic capital Noida (Gautam Buddha Nagar). After the success of the commissionerate system here a year, the number of commissioned districts in the state has been increased. However, after the commissioner system has been implemented, there is a lot of resentment in the IAS lobby somewhere. He does not want to accept the proposal after the IAS has seized power in big cities.
After the commissioning of the commissioning system, there will be 18 police stations in Varanasi commissioner, while 10 police stations will fall under the village. There will be 34 police stations in Kanpur Commissionerate, while there will be 11 police stations in Kanpur Outer.
The commissioner will get the strength of magistrate level
This system is already applicable in 71 cities of 15 states of the country.
On 13 January 2020, the Yogi government appointed IPS Sujit Pandey in Lucknow and Alok Singh as Commissioner in Gautam Budh Nagar after implementing the Police Commissioner System. Strengthening law and order in the Gautam Budh Nagar district of Delhi-NCR along with the capital Lucknow remains the priority of the government. It may be known that except the two districts of UP, Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad, the police commissioner system was already implemented in all the districts and cities of NCR. At the same time, there is already a commissioned system in 71 cities in 15 states of the country. Currently, Lucknow Police Commissioner is DK Thakur.
Importance of police court increased
There is a police court to be barred under Section-151 and 107/16 after the commissioner system is implemented by the police. In which the decision is being taken to make the law and order rights of the police compliant. The trial for the other criminal cases is now held by a judicial court. The same will now be implemented in Varanasi and Kanpur as well.
This right belongs to DM
After the commissioning system is implemented, the Arms Act licensing / cancellation, all excise decisions, development decisions and land related matters, which will remain with the District Magistrate, the right to revenue. After Lucknow and Noida, in Varanasi and Kanpur also DM’s There will be limited rights.
There should be more than 10 lakh population for the commissioned system
Former DGP Prakash Singh says that the commissionerate system can only be implemented in a city with a population of over 10 lakh. The commissioner system is a transparent system. If any system had rights then it can take right decision and its responsibility can also be fixed.
