In the country’s longest Ganga Expressway project, a provision of Rs 7200 crore has been made for land acquisition and Rs 489 crore for construction work.

The Uttar Pradesh government today presented the 5th and full budget 2021-22 in the Legislative Assembly. The total budget of this session is 5 lakh 50 thousand 270 crore (Rs 5,50,270.78 crore). In this budget, the Yogi government has laid special emphasis on the network of expressways and airports. The government says that connectivity and development complement each other. In the country’s longest Ganga Expressway project, a provision of Rs 7200 crore has been made for land acquisition and Rs 489 crore for construction work. At the same time, the number of runways in Asia’s largest airport being built in Jewar has been increased to six.

Ganga Expressway will connect Meerut with Prayagraj. Apart from Meerut and Prayagraj, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh will also be added to it. This six-lane expressway can be extended up to eight lanes.

1107 crores for Purvanchal Expressway

A provision of Rs 1107 crore has been made in the budget for Purvanchal Expressway, 860 crore for Gorakhpur Link Expressway and Rs 1492 crore for Bundelkhand Expressway. The Yogi government has decided to increase the number of runways from two to six at Asia’s largest Noida International Greenfield Airport being built at Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar. For this, a provision of 2000 crores has been made in the budget. In last year’s budget too, there was a provision of 2000 crores for jewelry. Similarly, a provision of 101 crore has been made for the under construction Maryada Purushottam Shriram Airport in Ayodhya.

Before the year 2017, 4 airports were operational in the state. But in Yogi government, their number has increased from 4 to 7. The Kushinagar Airport has been declared as the international airport by the Central Government. Its circulation is going to happen soon. By incorporating this, four airports in the state of Lucknow, Varanasi and Jewar will soon become of international standard. Aligarh, Azamgarh, Moradabad, Shravasti airport are almost ready. The airports at Chitrakoot and Sonbhadra will be ready by March 2021. The Uttar Pradesh government is counting this as a major achievement in terms of air connectivity.

597 and 478 crores for Kanpur and Agra Metro
In the budget, provision of 597 and 478 crores has been made for Kanpur and Agra Metro respectively. For the metro projects of Varanasi, Gorakhpur and other cities, a budget of Rs 100 crore has been made in the budget. In the same order, a provision of 1326 crores has been made in the budget regarding construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.

12,441 crore to PWD for construction of new roads and bridges

Emphasis has been laid on further strengthening of roads in the state in the new financial year. The state government has provisioned a budget of Rs 12,441 crore for construction of new roads and bridges in the budget. The government has made a budget of Rs 4,135 crore for the maintenance of roads and bridges. A provision of Rs 695 crore has been made to the Public Works Department in the budget to connect the villages with the main road and the block and tehsil.

In the budget, the Yogi government has proposed a budget of Rs 440 crore for the road construction under the World Bank assisted Uttar Pradesh Core Road Network Project. The state government has made a provision of Rs 208 crore in the budget for the road construction under the Uttar Pradesh Main District Development Project in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank. The state government has made a provision of Rs 1192 crore in its budget for the construction of railway overlying bridges in the state.
