Rishabh Pant looking forward to the India vs Pakistan clash
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant called it a ‘special’ match and spoke about the pressure of the India vs Pakistan match-up.
After excelling in the only warm-up fixture, Team India is gearing up to kick off their journey in the T20 World Cup 2024. The men in blue will take on Ireland in their campaign opener at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on Wednesday. But the fans across the subcontinent are eagerly waiting for the mouth-watering clash between the arch-rivals; India and Pakistan, on June 9 in New York.
The ICC events are the only platforms where these two teams square off against each other. India’s unbeaten streak against Pakistan in the T20 World Cups was broken a couple of years back in the UAE when the men in green thrashed the Virat Kohli-led side by 10 wickets. However, India sought revenge in style the following year with Kohli playing a memorable knock at the iconic MCG.

Team India will look to extend their 5-1 lead when they take the field against Pakistan on Wednesday. Ahead of the much-hyped face-off, vice-captain Hardik Pandya spoke on Star Sports -match show pre ‘Caught and Bold’ where he thanked the Indian fans for their endless support.
“There is a crowd everywhere you go. I’m sure in this group as well everyone wants to make sure we win the India-Pakistan game. So that is very normal, which I accept. At the same point of time, I do my best to disconnect from all those things and focus on the sport,” Pandya said.
“I’m very grateful to fans, they come and support us with all love and everything. But, at the same point of time, when we go inside there we can’t think of anything else,” he added.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant called it a ‘special’ match and spoke about the pressure of the India vs Pakistan match-up.
“It’s always quite exciting because it’s a special match. You always feel more pressure because people remember these matches for a long time,” Pant told Star Sports.
