Zayn Malik’s Stairway To The Sky tour in the US was initially supposed to happen in the coming months, but the singer rescheduled his tour to honour his friend, late Liam Payne.
The sudden loss of Liam Payne has deeply affected his fans, family and former One Direction bandmates, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik. Following the tragic news of Liam’s demise, the group came together to remember their beloved friend. As a respect, Zayn even announced the postponement of his first solo tour, Stairway To The Sky, in the US. Initially, the concert was set to begin in San Francisco on October 23 and conclude in Newcastle on December 3. Now, the Pillowtalk singer dropped the rescheduled dates, which will take place in major American cities, including Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco, throughout January and February.
According to the new schedule, Zayn will start his tour in Washington DC, on January 21. He will then head to New York, where he’ll perform on January 24 and 25. Later, the singer will entertain fans in Los Angeles for two nights on January 28 and 29. The tour will continue in Las Vegas on February 1 and it will conclude in San Francisco on February 3. Ahead of US concerts, Zayn will be performing in the various UK cities, including Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton and Newcastle upon Tyne, between November 20 and December 4.
Last week, remembering his beloved friend and One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, the singer shared an emotional post on Instagram. Zayn Malik wrote, “I can’t help but think selfishly that there were so many more conversations for us to have in our lives. I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life. When I was missing home as a 17 year old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved. Even though you were younger than me you were always more sensible than me, you were headstrong, opinionated, and gave no f***s about telling people when they were wrong. Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it.”
“When it came to the music Liam, you were the most qualified in every sense. I knew nothing in comparison, I was a novice child with no experience and you were already a professional. I was always happy to know, no matter what happened on stage we could always rely on you to know which way to steer the ship next. I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly. I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there are no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated,” Zayn concluded.
Liam Payne passed away after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The singer, who was just 31-years-old, is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear.
