Kapil Sharma starrer is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Zwigato, starring Kapil Sharma, has officially made its OTT debut! Following its theatrical release in March 2023, this romantic thriller is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Movie enthusiasts can now settle in with popcorn and enjoy Nandita Das’s directorial work, which tells the poignant story of a delivery boy. To celebrate the release, Kapil Sharma and director Nandita Das shared a video on X, showcasing a series of fan comments eagerly inquiring about the film’s digital premiere.
On October 24, Kapil Sharma took to X (formerly Twitter) and announced the digital release of Zwigato. “One year since #Zwigato touched hearts. Grateful for all the love and memories this film has given us. Here’s to stories that stay with you forever! Out tomorrow only on @PrimeVideoIN,” he wrote on X.
Filmmaker Nandita Das also shared the news on X. “The wait is over! Excited to share #Zwigato will be out tomorrow only on @PrimeVideoIN,” she wrote.
Set in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Zwigato portrays Kapil Sharma in an intense character. Co-starring Shahana Goswami as his wife, the film shows Kapil as Manas, a lower-middle-class delivery boy, and his brand new avatar has made fans go gaga over him. Although the film was highly praised by critics, it didn’t go well in theatres.
The film follows his daily life and his struggles to make ends meet as a food delivery worker after losing his steady job as a factory supervisor during the COVID-19 pandemic. The story is filled with ratings, penalties, and the pursuit of incentives a food delivery worker goes through to survive financially. During his journey, his wife also helps him by taking on odd jobs, such as giving massages to rich clients.
In an exclusive chat with News18, Kapil previously revealed that he has received a host of film offers after Zwigato that required him to play ‘serious’ roles. Speaking more about it, he says, “After the trailer for Zwigato was released, I was offered nine films. And all these films were in the serious zone. But it was evident that many of those writers weren’t serious about their own work.”
Elaborating further, he candidly shares, “I’m thankful to God for being able to do some good work and earn well by being within my own comfort zone. But if I’m required to step out of that space and go work under the scorching sun, the script should be good so that it feels worth it.”
“I only want to do films that touch my heart. It was a priority for me, and it will always remain a priority. I don’t want to do films just to earn money. I’ve earned enough. I’m very rich (laughs),” the 41-year-old added.
