The project is being done by the Technical University of Munich, Germany.

Experiments are being done by German scientists where they are yielding wheat in a climate chamber.

Wheat is one of the most basic food grains in the world. It is used in items like bread, biscuits, and flour. According to reports, a group of scientists from Germany have developed a variety of wheat that can be harvested multiple times in one year. In the early days of the Ukraine-Russia war, there was a shortage of food items across the world, as the exports from both the countries were halted. Continents like Africa and even Europe were struggling to get bread. Now, as per new reports, scientists from Munich (capital of Germany) are experimenting with the cultivation of wheat in a climate chamber.

As per the reports by Deutsche Velle, a German website, the scientists have developed a wheat variety that is able to mature fast, and can yield crops six times a year. According to them, this variety of wheat crop is ready 2 and a half months, that is 10 weeks earlier. Under a lot of light this crop will give a higher yield, says the report. It means that in countries like India this could prove to be very profitable.

Reports state further that this would lower the cost on the grain by a good margin. For example, if a farmer is able to yield 20 quintals on 1 acre, then they might be able to produce 100 quintals of the crop on the same land. They also claim that through this method, the consumption of water will be reduced by 95 percent, if compared to normal farming. This experimental project is being done with the funds provided by Chair of Digital Agriculture, Technical University of Munich, Germany.

Similarly, the Punjab Agricultural University has developed a type of wheat which could help boost our immunity. Reportedly, this new variety of wheat is high in amylase starch content, which may reduce the risk of diabetes, obesity or any cardiovascular disease.
