K-pop singer Aoora talks about Bigg Boss 17.
South Korean singer Aoora joined Bigg Boss 17 as a wild card contestant. In an exclusive interview, he opened up about his stratergy to survive the show.
Bigg Boss is no stranger to inviting international stars on the show. Over the years, we’ve had stars such as Sunny Leone, Pamela Anderson, Natasha Stankovic and more recently, Abdu Rozik. This year, Bigg Boss 17 has opened the house doors for K-pop singer Aoora. The South Korean star entered the show as a wild card contestant over the weekend and what a banger entry. He not only showed off his charm but also got Salman to speak a few words in Korean. Ahead of his entry, Aoora sat down for a chat with News18 Showsha and revealed that he has a simple strategy to survive in the house — have fun.
“Bigg Boss invited me for the show and I was keen to explore this opportunity. So I thought I will go for it,” he said before adding, “I am taking along a lot of Korean cosmetics, learning how to cook. I am also taking a lot of masks, I want to use them, fight over them in the house and do a lot more. I am excited to see if there will be fights. If I don’t understand the fight, I will start fighting in Korean (laughs).”
He said he has been familiarising himself with numerous dance numbers to impress Salman. “I am prepared to dance a lot. I have learnt to dance on Leke Prabhu Ka Naam and Jeene Ke Hain Chaar Din and hope to dance with him,” he said. Aoora will be seen sharing the house with Ankita Lokhande, Mannara Chopra and many others. Ask him if he was aware of the competition inside the house, Aoora admitted, “I don’t know of other contestants this year but I am eager to meet them. I can’t wait to go inside the Bigg Boss house and getting to know them.”
While he might not know any of the contestants in Bigg Boss 17, he has worked with former Bigg Boss contestant, Pratik Sehajpal on a music video. Although the familiarity, Aoora said he hasn’t taken any advice from him. “I know Pratik but I didn’t get a chance to ask him for advice. I am just going to Bigg Boss in my own style. I don’t want to get influenced by others’ experiences. When I am in the house, I hope to enjoy, learn some Hindi, and even teach them some Korean, and just have a ball inside,” he said.
Though entering Bigg Boss is one of the biggest milestones of Aoora’s year, he said it would not top the experience of visiting the Durga Puja pandal in October. The singer visited the pandal in Mumbai’s Juhu and had met Rani Mukerji there.
“It was a beautiful experience and one of my best experiences this year. I am very grateful to have witnessed it. I not only got to do the puja but also enjoyed doing the dhunuchi dance. People were so nice to teach me the art form and I was dancing for almost an hour and a half. I loved the experience,” he said. Speaking about Rani, he said, “I didn’t discuss work with her but she was so nice, kind and welcomed me so warmly at the pandal.”
Although South Korea is his first home, Aoora said India has become his second home. “I feel like I am comfortable in Mumbai. I feel like I am about 95 per cent settled in Mumbai. I hold back the 5 percent because of the language barrier I have but I am hoping that also vanishes soon. But I think I can call Mumbai as my second home and next year, it could be my first home, you never know,” he teased.
