Bengaluru beats Punjab by 4 wickets: Virat scores 51st fifty in IPL, 100th 50+ score in T-20

On the basis of Virat Kohli's explosive innings, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has achieved its first win in the Indian Premier League-2024. Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets in the sixth match of the current season. The host team has won the sixth consecutive match of the season.
On Monday, Bengaluru achieved the target of 177 runs for 6 wickets in 19.2 overs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Punjab, batting first, scored 176 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli played an inning of 77 runs on 49 balls. He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes.
Kohli scored his 51st half-century in IPL. This is his 100th 50+ score in his T20 career. He became the first Indian batsman to do so. Virat was chosen player of the match.

Reasons for PBKS defeat
- Kohli's catches dropped Virat Kohli missed two catches during Bengaluru's innings. In such a situation, he got a chance to survive and later Kohli started becoming dangerous.
- Could not create pressure in death overs After Kohli's wicket fell in the 16th over, Punjab bowlers could not put pressure on Lomror and Dinesh Karthik.
- Rahul Chahar was not given a second chance Punjab captain Dhawan did not give Rahul Chahar another chance after his first over proved costly. Kohli's wicket could have been brought after the fall, as Glenn Maxwell and Harpreet Brar bowled well on the Bengaluru pitch. Both also got two wickets each.
- Dhawan could not play a big innings Captain Shikhar Dhawan started the innings well, but could not extend his innings later. Later his innings started slowing down.
- Didn't get support from middle order, also gave up score Dhawan stood from one side and Punjab's wickets kept falling from the other end. In such a situation, he did not get the support of any batsman in the middle order. Due to this the team's score was less by about 20 runs.
Dhawan missed half-century, Shashank reached 176 runs
Punjab Kings, who came to bat first, did not have a special start. The team lost the wicket of Jonny Bairstow on the score of 17 runs. From here, captain Shikhar Dhawan (45 runs on 37 balls) along with Prabhsimran Singh (25 runs on 17 balls) crossed 70. There was a 55 run partnership between the two on 38 balls.
After Prabhasimran's dismissal, Liam Livingston (17 runs), Sam Curran (23 runs) and Jitesh Sharma (27 runs) contributed in the middle order by playing short innings. Then in the end Shashank Singh scored 21 runs on 8 balls and took the score to 176 runs. Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell got 2-2 wickets for Bengaluru.
Virat's half-century, Karthik-Lomror won
Chasing the target of 177, Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis gave a better start to Bengaluru than Punjab by making a partnership of 26 runs. After captain du Plessis was out, Cameron Green returned to the pavilion after scoring 3 runs. Glenn Maxwell could also score only 3 runs.
Anuj Rawat scored 11 runs, Dinesh Karthik scored 28 runs and Mahipal Lomror scored 17 runs and led the team to victory. Kagiso Rabada and Harpreet Brar took two wickets each for Punjab.
