1. Nikhat Zareen wins gold in Elorda Cup 2024
On May 18, Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen won the gold medal in the Elorda Cup 2024. Nikhat took part in the women’s 52 kg boxing event. Nikhat defeated Jazira Uri Kabayeva of Kazakhstan 5-0. In the Elorda Cup 2024, four boxers from India won bronze medals in the competition. These include Yaifaba Singh Soibham, Abhishek Yadav, Vishal and Gaurav Chauhan.
Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen was born on 14 June 1996 in Nizamabad.
2. Former ICICI Bank Chairman Narayanan Vaghul passes away
On May 18, former ICICI Bank chairman Narayanan Vaghul died in Chennai. Vaghul was 88 years old. In 1985, Vaghul became the chairman and managing director of ICICI Bank. At the age of 39, he was made the executive director of Central Bank of India. In 1981, at the age of 44, he became the youngest chairman and managing director of Bank of India. In 2009, Vaghul was awarded the Padma Bhushan award.
Vaghul, known as the father of modern Indian banking, played an important role in laying the foundation of ICICI Bank.

1. Recruitment for 2553 posts for MBBS graduates.
Tamil Nadu Medical Recruitment Board has invited applications from eligible candidates for 2553 Assistant Surgeon (General) posts. The last date of application for this recruitment was 15th May, which has been extended till 15th July. Candidates can apply by visiting mrb.tn.gov.in.
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates should have MBBS degree.
- Must be a registered surgeon under the Madras Medical Registration Act, 1914.
- Must have served as House Surgeon (CRRI) for at least twelve months.
