The court has fixed June 12 for the next hearing on the petition.
The matter has reached Allahabad High Court regarding where goats and big animals should be sacrificed on Bakrid. Disputes keep coming up regarding the festival of sacrifice Bakrid. This time a person from Mau has filed a petition in the High Court saying that the police is not allowing him to sacrifice animals at home.

Allahabad High Court has sought information from the state government on a petition filed against the police’s ban on sacrificing buffaloes and goats in homes on Bakrid in village Bari (Sarwan) of Thana Sarai Lakhansi in Mau district. The court has fixed June 12 as the date for the next hearing on the petition.
This order was given by the division bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice Manish Kumar Nigam while hearing the PIL of Mohammad Shahid.
Request for intervention from the court
The petition has been filed calling the police action illegal and seeking court intervention. The petitioner says that every year the villagers have been sacrificing animals at home on Bakrid. Last year, an investigation was conducted on the threat of the police. This time the police is threatening that animals will not be sacrificed at home. The case will be heard on June 12.
