An encounter took place between the police and the accused wanted for attempt to murder late at night in Jaunpur. During the encounter, accused Rahul Yadav was shot in the leg, while his other accomplice escaped. Rahul Yadav has dozens of cases registered against him in several districts.

The joint police team formed on the orders of the SP conducted a checking campaign along with the police of Badalpur, Baksha and Teji Bazar police stations. Last night, the police tried to stop two suspects riding a motorcycle near the Manuddinpur canal culvert.

On seeing the police, the accused started firing, in response to which the police also opened fire. During this, Rahul Yadav was shot in his left leg. The injured Rahul Yadav was sent to the hospital for treatment. A pistol, a shell and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

  • Ayodhya district: 147/323, 147/148/149/307/504/506, 271/19, 272/19, 302/19
  • Jaunpur district: 13/24, 46/22, 58/19, 59/19, 167/2024, 151/2024
  • Basti District: 178/19

Police statement
According to the police, the encounter took place near the Mainuddinpur canal culvert on July 31, 2024 at 1:50 pm. Accused Rahul Yadav was shot in retaliatory action by the police and was admitted to the district hospital. On the basis of the pistol and cartridges recovered from the accused’s possession, a case has been registered under the relevant sections at Teji Bazar police station and legal action is being taken.
