Ranjit Srivastava, resident of Tendubari village of Gauri Bazar police station area of the district, strangled his wife Sonam Srivastava with a dupatta at 6 pm on Thursday, due to which she died on the spot. Police reached the spot after receiving information and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. The murdered husband was arrested. The police registered a case of murder against the accused on the complaint of the deceased’s mother.

During interrogation, the murderer told that four years ago he had married Sonam, a resident of Paratawal in Maharajganj district, from whom both of them have a two and a half year old son Om. While working abroad, Sonam had an illicit relationship with a young man from her maternal home. There used to be frequent arguments regarding this upon returning from abroad. Sonam had filed an application in the court for divorce. Whom my father and his mother persuaded to live together.

As the dispute escalated on October 10, Ranjit Srivastava started beating Sonam. Sonam ran to the terrace, climbed down with the help of bamboo and hid in the neighboring house. He asked for mobile and informed dial 112. She was not coming out until the police arrived. Meanwhile, Ranjeet got into a fight with the neighbors to get his wife out and dragged his wife by her hair to his house.

During this time dial 112 police also reached. Police and neighbors asked to open the door. Ranjeet strangled his wife with a dupatta kept in the room. After that the door was opened and his body was taken out. Seeing this gruesome scene the villagers got goosebumps. Gauri Bazar Police Station Head said that the accused husband has been arrested. On the basis of her mother-in-law’s complaint, a case was registered and presented in the court. From where the court sent him to jail.
