After finding a Kala-azar patient in Triveni Nagar, the team of Health and Municipal Malaria Department camped in the area on Tuesday. 300 people here were examined. The officers heaved a sigh of relief when their reports came negative.
The sand fly found from the patient’s house has been sent for testing to find out whether it is male or female. The team also sprayed medicines inside and outside the houses in the area.
17 year old teen was found infected
A 17-year-old teenager, resident of Triveni Nagar, was admitted to Era Medical College on October 23 due to high fever. Doctors feared kala-azar. This was confirmed in the investigation report that came after about 8 days. After this, WHO and the district malaria team went to the patient’s house and investigated, in which a sand fly was found.
How Kala-azar happens
Kala-azar is caused by the bite of a female sand fly. This fly is found in damp and damp houses. The sand fly does not fly and moves by hopping. It is smaller in appearance than a normal fly. This fly is mostly found in the cracks of damp ground.
