A massive fire broke out in the infant ward (SNCU) of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College, Jhansi on Friday night. In which 10 newborn children died due to scorching. So far, 10 dead bodies have been taken out by breaking the window of the child ward. Rescue operation is going on.

All administrative officials including the District Magistrate have reached the spot. Many fire brigade vehicles are busy extinguishing the fire. Army fire vehicle has also reached the spot. So far, about 37 children have been rescued safely. It is estimated that more than 50 children are trapped inside.
The cause of the fire is said to be a blast in the oxygen cylinder. CM Yogi has taken cognizance of the accident. Orders have been given for relief work. All the officers including DM are present on the spot. The incident occurred around 10:30 pm.
The children were taken out by breaking the window of SNCU.
During the rescue, a large crowd of family members of the children also gathered.
DM said- children trapped inside could not be saved DM Avinash Kumar said- The children who were outside have been saved. The children who were inside were badly burnt. 10 children have died. It appears that the fire may have occurred due to short circuit. All the children who are injured are being monitored. The incident took place between 10.30 am and 10.45 am. An investigation team has been formed. Which will give its report.
There was a stir in the hospital after the cylinder blast. For some time I could not understand what happened. But when the hospital staff saw smoke coming out from the SNCU ward, there was panic there.
The hospital staff ran towards the infant ward. The relatives of the crying children also ran behind them. However, due to flames and smoke no one could enter the ward. The fire brigade and police team reached the spot and started the rescue operation by breaking the window glass.
Safety alarm did not go off even after fire Firefighters are engaged in the rescue operation with handkerchiefs tied over their mouths. Despite the fire in the child ward, the safety alarm did not go off. If the safety alarm had been raised in time, such a major incident could have been prevented.
Deputy CM leaves for Jhansi There is an atmosphere of chaos all around after the fire in the medical college. The family members are seen crying. A large team of doctors from Kanpur has been sent to Jhansi. On the instructions of CM, Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and Principal Secretary Health also left for Jhansi.
Most of the people from Bundelkhand region come to the medical college for delivery and treatment. The family members are in bad condition, crying. A large amount of police force has been deployed to ensure that law and order does not deteriorate.
