The woman, resident of Chowk Kotwali area, said that she was married to a Merchant Navy captain resident of Anandapuram Colony in 2014. Before marriage, the husband had promised that after marriage both of them would live together on a sea ship. But after marriage he refused. When the woman gathered information, she came to know that it was not possible for her to stay with her wife on the ship.

Allegations of dowry taunts and property grabbing The woman alleged that after marriage, her in-laws started harassing her by taunting her for bringing less dowry. The husband did not even pay for her maintenance. The woman says that with her husband’s earnings, her in-laws bought a house in Delhi, 25 acres of land in Jalalabad and a restaurant in Anandapuram Colony. The in-laws are taking advantage of all these properties, but they are not being given any share.

Allegations of assault and threats The woman said in the FIR that when she protested against the property, her in-laws beat her up and threw her out of the house along with the child. After the Panchayat, she was taken back, but after some time she was again beaten up with taunts about dowry and thrown out of the house. The husband also threatened to marry again and kill her.

Police investigation started Shahjahanpur police has registered an FIR on the woman’s complaint and started investigating the case. Police say that after investigating the veracity of the woman’s allegations, necessary action will be taken against the in-laws. The woman pleaded for justice and said that she was facing mental and physical torture. She wants her and the child’s safety to be ensured and strict action to be taken against her in-laws.
