The final of the World Chess Championship is being played between D Gukesh of India and Ding Liren of China in Singapore.

In the final of the World Chess Championship on Sunday, D Gukesh defeated Ding Liren of China in the 11th game. They won this match 1-0. With this, Gukesh has taken the lead in the World Championship final for the first time. Earlier the 10th game was a draw of 0.5-0.5. Now the final score is 6-5.

32 year old Chinese Grand Master Liren had won the first match, while 18 year old Indian Grand Master Gukesh had won the third match. The second, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, ninth and tenth games were draws. 6 consecutive games were drawn. So far 8 games in the match ended in a draw. 7.5 points are needed to win the championship.

Now 3 games are left in the championship. The 12th game will be played on Monday (9 December). Now only 3 matches are left in the championship with a prize money of 25 lakh dollars (about Rs 21.14 crore). If the score remains tied after 14 rounds, there will be matches under ‘Faster Time Control’ to decide the winner.

Gukesh got time advantage

Gukesh has taken one more step in the race to become the youngest world champion. Today they played a draw of 10th game 0.5-0.5. But in the last minute of the 11th game the victory was won. The 11th game started with Gukesh’s move.

After this, there was a delay in taking the move due to the board decision of Liren. After which Gukesh got time advantage. But despite the time pressure, the Chinese player made the right moves and brought the match to a draw. During this time Gukesh utilized his extra time. And won the match.

9th and 10th games played a draw

Gukesh played today’s first game with a draw with Liren at 0.5-0.5. On Friday, after the 41st move of the 9th game, Liren got the advantage and D Gukesh started lagging behind. After a short break, on the 54th move the chess board became king versus king and both players agreed to a draw.
