The devastating Los Angeles wildfires have left behind a trail of destruction and now the city is gearing up for a night of hope and solidarity. On January 30, the Intuit Dome will host FireAid, a special benefit concert aimed at helping rebuild the lives and communities affected by the recent fires. Promising ‘an evening of music and solidarity,’ the event is being organised by Live Nation, AEG Presents and the Azoff family with more details on performers and tickets expected in the coming days. The proceeds from FireAid will play a vital role in restoring infrastructure, providing aid to displaced families and investing in fire prevention measures to better equip Los Angeles for future emergencies.

After the devastating fires, several musicians and their families have had to leave their homes behind, facing significant challenges in the aftermath. Among those seeking assistance to manage repairs and stay afloat are Zachary Cole Smith of Diiv, Tim Darcy, Fat Tony and Lorely Rodriguez, known as Empress Of, reports Pitchfork.

On January 9, Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz took to social media to share a spreadsheet compiling information about “music industry folks who have lost their homes to the fires,” along with donation links to support them.

The wildfires, which began on January 6 in Pacific Palisades, rapidly spread across the city, wreaking havoc on neighbourhoods such as Altadena, Sylmar, Granada Hills, Studio City and Runyon Canyon. Despite the heroic efforts of firefighters, new blazes ignited on January 9, including one in West Hills, compounding the devastation, reports Variety.

The scale of the destruction is staggering, thousands of homes and buildings have been reduced to ashes and at least 10 lives have been lost. The ripple effects have been felt across industries, with Hollywood productions and events among those impacted. Premieres like Wolf Man and The Pitt were cancelled, while filming for series such as Fallout, Hacks, Grey’s Anatomy, and Suits: L.A. came to a halt.

Variety informs that award season timelines have also shifted, with nominations for the Oscars, PGA Awards, and WGA Awards delayed, the Critics Choice Awards rescheduled to January 26, and other high-profile gatherings like the BAFTA Tea Party and AFI Luncheon postponed.
