Israel-Hamas ceasefire LIVE updates: In a massive development in the Middle East, Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement to stop the Gaza war that has killed thousands of Palestinians, creating a humanitarian crisis in the region. The United States and Qatar announced the deal which would put an end to the 15-month war and clear the path for dozens of hostages to go home.

The Israel-Hamas war has so far killed over 46,000 Palestinians, including the militants, in Gaza, according to the health authorities. The war had begun after Hamas militants stormed into southern Israel and killed about 1,200 people on October 7, 2023, and took nearly 250 hostages.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on late Wednesday that the ceasefire agreement with Hamas was still not complete and the final details are being worked out.

He has not explicitly said whether he accepts the announced deal. In a statement, Netanyahu said that he would only issue a formal response “after the final details of the agreement, which are currently being worked on, are completed”.
