A video of some men engaging in unnatural sex with a mare has gone viral on social media sparking outrage among the netizens. Three accused have been arrested so far and the investigation is underway, the police said on Sunday.
Hafizganj Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Singh said Devendra (22), Rizwan (23) and Aamir (21) were arrested on Saturday while efforts are on to nab the other two accused — Bhagwat Sharan and Zeeshan.
The SHO said an FIR has been lodged against the five accused under sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the IPC.
A video of the incident surfaced on Saturday, prompting authorities to take immediate action against the accused.
In the video, Sharan, a resident of Inayatpur village in Nawabganj, is seen engaging in unnatural sex with the mare while Zeeshan was holding the reins of the animal, the SHO said.
The other three accused are also seen standing beside Sharan in the video, he said.
This comes just a day after a 52-year-old security guard was arrested for allegedly having unnatural sex with a stray dog in Gujarat’s Surat, Indian Express reported.
The arrest was based on a complaint filed by an animal rights activist at the Varachha police station on Friday after the latter came across the video of the incident.
Earlier in July, a man from Kanpur was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting stray cattle in the Gujaini area of the city.
The accused, identified as Brijesh Kumar Mishra (57), was caught on the complaint of the district convener of Hindu Jagran Manch Mayank Tripathi, TOI reported.
