Cyclone Fengal Live Tracker, Tamil Nadu Chennai Weather Forecast: Due to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across many parts of Tamil Nadu, several districts have declared a holiday for educational institutions on Wednesday. This includes schools and colleges in Chennai and surrounding districts such as Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu, where district collectors have announced closures.
In anticipation of severe weather, authorities have also extended the holiday to schools and colleges in the Delta districts, including Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Villupuram. Additionally, educational institutions in Karaikal and Puducherry are closed.
The RMC in Chennai reported that the depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression, which is expected to evolve into a cyclonic storm by Wednesday. Weather officials have noted that this system is moving closer to the state and is one step away from being classified as a cyclone.
Current forecasts suggest the developing cyclone could head toward Chennai, though its exact landfall location remains uncertain. It may strike anywhere between Puducherry and Chennai or even extend into Andhra Pradesh. Due to this deep depression, the RMC has predicted heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu for the next three days, with a red alert already issued for several districts on November 28 and 29.
