Ishaan Khatter Says He Is Lucky To Have Shahid Kapoor: ‘We Both Know That…’ | Exclusive – News18

Ishaan Khatter has not only established himself in Bollywood but is also gearing up for his Hollywood debut in The Perfect Couple. Apart from this, he is all set to lend his voice to the character of young Ravan in Audible’s audio series Ravan Rising. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, he discussed his experience of navigating different industries and mediums, working with Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman, and his relationship with his brother, Shahid Kapoor.

Speaking of bringing to life a character just through his voice, Ishaan said, “While acting so far has taught me a lot, but it hasn’t taught me is the various dimensions of voice acting. In Ravan Rising, I am not just mouthing dialogues, but there are many action sequences as well. And to bring that out with just your voice is very difficult.”

Recalling Shahid’s nervousness when he was to make his debut with Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds, Ishaan said, “I have had many many years of watching him from the wings and learning from him, vicariously. But, when I started acting, when my first film, Beyond the Clouds, released, it was a very big moment to share with my family, especially my brother and my mother. Something very beautiful started at that moment when I was born as an actor in front of him. If I can speak for him here, I think he was more nervous about the film than I was. You can prepare, work and learn as much as you can but this is a kind of profession where, till you see it, you don’t know. The nervousness stemmed from the fact that I am his Chota Bhai – the personal attachment is such. He thought, ‘Will I have to come to terms with the fact that he has not got the acting chops?’ But, I think he was very relieved when he saw Beyond the Clouds. Something very beautiful started that day – we started feeding off each other’s creative energies.”

Ishaan, who shares a deep resect for his brother Shahid Kapoor, says that he’s lucky to have him in his life and there’s an unspoken bond between them. “It’s a beautiful thing, even we don’t talk about it too much. But, we both know that it’s there. He has been like a mentor – someone I’ve learnt a lot from. We are lucky to have each other,” he added.

Ishaan, who will soon be seen with Nicole Kidman in The Perfect Couple said he was not intimated by her on sets. “I’ve always been able to separate that from the work I’m doing because at the end of the day, we are all there to bring the story to life. Sure, when working with such a big stars, the feeling of intimidated can come in the way, but I don’t think I’ve ever been negatively intimidated. It always helps me do better,” he said.
