Javed Akhtar honored with honorary doctorate degree: SOAS of London University gave the honour, said – this is not an honor for the artist, but for the art

Famous writer, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. In this function held in London on Friday, Dr. Along with Javed, his wife actress Shabana Azmi and son actor Farhan Akhtar were also present.

People are surprised at the respect for poetry
At the ceremony, Javed Akhtar expressed his gratitude for this honor and said that whenever such an award is given, it should not be forgotten that the art is being honored, not the artist. Javed further said, ‘Many people wonder why poetry should be honored in the times of science and technology. I believe it is important to think about what poetry is? Only rhyme does not make a poem. A good poem is born from contradiction.

Said- Instead of finding the reason, we reach conclusions
We live in an era where we jump to conclusions before finding logic and reason. Attempting development by making laws favorable to powerful corporates and attempting to save the environment is called blocking development.

Wife and son congratulated
Javed’s wife Shabana Azmi and son Farhan Akhtar have shared a picture of the event on their social media accounts. Sharing this, Shabana wrote, ‘Congratulations on receiving the doctorate degree from SOAS University of London.’

While son Farhan Akhtar wrote, ‘I am proud that I was present on the occasion when my father was awarded the degree of Doctorate of Literature. Congratulations on receiving this recognition for your contribution and hard work in the world of writing.
